Very interesting introduction. I think you picked a great place to start because it really does begin with the students. We don't/won't find ourselves using technology because it is there; we are/will be using it to adapt to the needs of our students. This setting is much closer to a reality than most think. Instruction will need to be differentiated, and technology will be very helpful in helping us achieve this goal.

What a great introduction! You really set the stage dramatically and with tremendous insight. Barriers and boundaries that exist now will almost certainly become obsolete in the future, if we can get politicians to live up to and pony up for the possibilities

Wow! What a great learning enviromnet you have envisioned. Here's what I absolutely loved: "There is no “inclusion” here because everyone genuinely belongs and everyone contributes to the total learning of the group. " Beautiful!!!

Additionally, I was impressed with your ideas about real world learning and problem solving along with the community being more involved in the education of kids.

I agree that education will still be a human experience, at least I hope it will!

As usual you have phrased your thoughts so well. I had a concrete image of what that classroom will look like and it sounds wonderful. We are both optimistic about the future of education. I hope that your dreams of a classroom that a wide diversity of students will share comes true. All types of learners will collaborate together. Thank so much for your thoughts.

We both believe in Universal Design for Learning and about a paperless format for learning and sharing of information. We probably only differ in one aspect. I see the future in education becoming more game-like and employing more gaming strategies. I think we could function well as colleagues in the next generation :)

Lee Anne, When I design my lessons now, I think about how different this could be if I had access to blogs and wikis. Instead of my kids all searching for the same information, I would have them investigate different aspects of the same topic and build a wiki from there. I would encourage them to add new and unexpected information that they came across that might update our textbooks or other websites.

Every time I have them design and perform a lab, I wonder who might be willing to partner with us and perform the same lab to test our plans and the reliability of our data when we compare it with theirs. I would love to have my students reciprocate by performing a lab for our partner school.

When I have to be out of the classroom, I envision using a podcast since none of our substitutes are science certified. My kids could just keep moving without me. They could also vodcast or create a wiki of the things they do to showcase to our middle school and elementary schools to stimulate interest in science.

I hope you sense my excitement, because I just can't wait!!!
