Welcome to my blog!

Published by Mrs. S. at 5:05 pm under Uncategorized

I’m so excited to greet you and to let you know that in this space, I expect great changes to take place.  My dream of combining a library with a lab for my biology students is happening right here.  With the opportunity to use the Read/Write Web, I envision my students becoming part of a global community where they realize that they are not learning in one room in one school in one town.  Instead, they have extensive access to experts and to their peers.  They can collaborate and share explorations with others in different climates and different cultures, expanding their view of the importance of what they learn and do.  I hope to enliven their interest, desire, and literacy as they do real science and communicate it with others.  I believe that they will view their education in a new light as they have the capability to publish their work and share it with others.

I like your enthusiasm and the energy you are putting into wide ranging considerations for your students. I really like the addition of the web sites listed at the top for other people to access. It gives me some great ideas for setting up my own blog and providing additional resources for interested parties.

It is good to find other educators who are interested in cross cultural education. I think that it provides an essential basis for a well rounded student/person.

Hi. Thank you for sharing that link to Ms. Baker’s blog. I was inspired by it and the photos were beautiful. I am also interested in cross cultural education and look forward to learning from and sharing with you. Patricia Galien

Global. Collaborate. Share. Extensive. Motivation. You hit the nail on the head, and I agree 110%. It’s not only time to think out of the box, but to actually get out of the box! We are experts in are rather larger area; however, there are experts out there for any little concept we want to introduce out students to. Why talk about climate and culture overseas when someone who actually lives there could?! Who would the students rather hear it from? The motivation factor is huge. Great ideas! -Justin Arthur
